South Asian Literature: Southlit’s Aim

Southlit: South Asian literature and art journal. Picture by Dave Hopkins. Our aim in publishing South Asian literature and art is to bring you an interesting and varied collection. This will consist of creative writing, literature and art focused on South Asia. We hope to bring you a mix of work from both previously published and unpublished writers.

Southlit, as some of you may be aware, is a sister journal to Eastlit. Eastlit journal of creative writing, English literature and art focuses on East Asia and South East Asia. Over the past year and a half of publsihing Eastlit, we have found an increasing interest from South Asia. There are obvious cultural connections between South Asian Literature and art and that of East and South East Asia. But we felt that it was time for South Asia to have its own journal. This way we hope to publish more writers, and highlight more artists. The aim is to have a readership reading both journals. To achieve this Southlit: South Asian literature and art journal will be published on the 15th of months. Eastlit will continue to be published on the 1st. At this stage whether Southlit is a monthly, bimonthly or quarterly publication has not been decided. However, the aim is to become a monthly journal as soon as possible. When submissions and interest reach a level to support this Southlit will be monthly!

Southlit journal of South Asian literature and art has its own FacebookGoogle+, and Twitter pages. You can follow us on them to get updates if you want. Just click on the links. You can also click on the buttons at the bottom of the page. We will update you with what is happening regularly.

The first issue will appear on the site in the middle of this year. We are working on East Asia time, so for most it should be up when you wake up.
